Things are quieting down from a very busy year. We do post updates all year but will do so less between now and spring. Have a wonderful holiday season.

BLACK BEAR

Region wide: Most bears are in their dens but as of early last week there are still sporadic reports of bears out and about.

De Borgia:  FWP captured  an orphaned black bear cub and sent it to the the rehab center in Helena.

Hamilton:  FWP captured an orphaned black bear cub and sent it to the the rehab center in Helena.

Ovando: FWP captured an orphaned black bear cub and sent it to the the rehab center in Helena.

Lolo: As of early last week FWP was getting reports of a black bear in the area feeding on remaining crab apples. No reports have come in since early last week.

Potomac: FWP has received reports of a black bear active in the area as of early last week.

GRIZZLY BEAR

Blackfoot/Clearwater: As of early last week FWP had fielded sporadic reports of grizzly bear activity in the area. Most grizzly bears have gone to their dens.

MOUNTAIN LION

Region wide: People have been reporting tracks and sightings of mountain lions. This is not unusual as deer move to winter areas and mountain lions follow.

Evaro: A mountain lion was killed at the bottom of Evaro hill on the highway.

Bitterroot: Two mountain lions were removed after depredating on livestock.
