UPDATES: February 23, 2021

MOUNTAIN LION

Region-wide: FWP has received multiple reports of mountain lion activity throughout the region. This is not unusual for this time of year. Please do not feed deer and elk. This is against the law in Montana.

Rock Creek: FWP aversive-conditioned a female lion with subadults away from the area.

In Piltzville/Turah: FWP aversive-conditioned a female mountain lion with young kittens away from the area.

Rattlesnake: Residents have seen mountain lion activity in the upper and lower portions of the Rattlesnake. FWP is monitoring.

South Hills/Farviews: Residents have reported seeing mountain lion activity.


February 16, 2021

MOUNTAIN LION

Region-wide: Mountain lion reports have increased recently. This is not unusual. The cold temperatures and snow have shifted deer and elk and the lions follow.

Rock Creek: Residents have been seeing a family group of lions. FWP is monitoring and has been aversive conditioning this family group.

Clinton: Residents have been seeing a family group of lions. FWP is monitoring and has been aversive conditioning this family group.

Rattlesnake: A couple of mountain lions were seen in the Rattlesnake. One mountain lion cached a deer kill under a car and another was seen on a porch. FWP is monitoring this activity.

MOOSE

Hamilton/Bitterroot: Moose continue to be reported in the area. FWP is keeping an eye on this activity.

Blackfoot: FWP responded to a moose in a trap.
