Electric fencing works. It’s a simple, cost effective, and versatile tool that, when installed correctly, is effective at preventing bears from accessing human-generated attractants. Things like chicken coops, gardens, compost piles, livestock and other such attractants are commonplace across the landscape and present an irresistible food source for bears. Left unprotected, these attractants are a major cause of human-bear conflicts. Electric fencing is great way to deter bears from coming into conflict at these sites.
